Scarborough Talking News was formed in 1982 and is a registered charity. We supply the local news taken mainly from the Scarborough Evening News to our listeners.
The recordings are sent out once a week on a Thursday. The recordings are available to any visually impaired person nationally
We also produce a bi-monthly magazine recording of more general interest items. This magazine is sent out automatically to the people receiving the news recordings.
The recordings are available on Cassette, CD and USB Pen Drive. We will supply a player on long term loan for the pen drive system, or the listener can buy their own at a cost of between £20 and £25 depending on the model.
We also have an extensive library of audio books that we loan to listeners.
The service is entirely free.
